Tonight I eagerly watched the Graham Norton show with Catherine Tate and James Nesbitt *squee*. I may try to youtube this but I'm not sure with how Windows Movie Maker sucks sideways. Anyway, the following is nearly a play by play for those who rather not watch but want the basic lengthy overview.

OMG... Harmony is on Supernatural! I really should watch this show. It's just the sort of thing I like.

Summary: Takes place b/w Season 5/6. The rest of the gang are helping Giles pack up his apartment after Buffy's death. 

So, back when Brad and I first got together he did this really romantic thing and gave me a page or so of ‘coupons’ that he made up. They were redeemable for things like a passionate kiss, or a hug, etc. Well I used a few of them and then they got put away forgotten but surviving all our various moves and such.

 

Brad just had me cleaning out this little set of drawers (tiny ones, like you’d fit on a desk) and there they were. Eleven years later (they’re dated July 15, 1997) and I still have them. Brad joked that he should have put an expiration date on them. Lol. There are still several kissing ones, one for an apology, one giving me permission to hit him over the head with a pillow (he has to provide the pillow). But my favorites, and ones I’m saving for a while are; one entitling me to a cheescake or carrot cake (homemade), one that says he’ll be at my beck and call for a whole day (including footrubs/massages) and one for a dinner date (which will have to wait for when we have more money).

It just goes to show that deep down, he really is a romantic soul.

We'd been planning to get it cut this weekend anyway. It's getting harder to manage as he is VERY active, and he's starting to get more concious of that whole I'm a Boy thing. Apparently he couldn't wait.

I was sitting at my computer just now and suddenly heard the neighbor go, "Holy shit!!!" Followed immediately by Hubby calling my name. A moment later in he comes with JJ whose beautiful thick braid is now GONE. Longish on the right side, base of the skull short on the left. Guess which handed he is?

*sigh* I think we can salvage a decent enough cut out of it, keep some of the length in front and shorten up the back, but I really wanted to do before and after shots and we wanted to donate his hair to Locks of Love like we did with his brother. Now I'm not certain if it's too short a piece. It looks like about a foot, but we'll see. I'll be taking him to the hair dresser's after dinner to repair the damage.

Oy.

This Saturday will mark eleven years since my dad passed away.

I made a post about the events surrounding the day he died last year. You can read it here if you like.

As it turns out, I have the day off work on Saturday. I think I would rather work that day. The work keeps me from thinking about it too much. Normally, it wouldn't be a problem, but I'll be home alone on Saturday. I'm also coming down with a bad cold or something. That's not a great time for me to be sick.

If anyone's online Saturday, drop me a note. I'm sure I'll need people to talk with.

Forcing His Hand - Chapter Five

This morning I am grateful for:

*  Giles fanfic to wake up to in the morning.
*  Morning kitty snuggles.
*  Uninterrupted sleep, including sleeping in without any work phone calls waking me up!
*  Last night during a table visit at work, I talked to a guy that was riding a Harley who went to Sturgis last year.  He told me all about it and gave me a high five when I told him I'm going later this month, though not on Ripper.  Perhaps another time.  But it was a cool little bonding moment between bikers.  :)


On another note... I've never ever never ever never ran a ficathon before. However, I've noted that there is very little Giles/Anya stories out there, but the few I've read have been excellent.  There needs to be more out there.  If I were to hold such a ficathon, would there be interest?  Would people like that, want to read, and even more, want to write?  The amount of interest I get here in comments will help me decide if I want to try my hand at holding a ficathon or not.

Yesterday had strong idea for angsty Giles/Buffy friendship with background of kinky G/X, to continue storyline ignited by kink_bingo prompts. Have short fic outlined. Now, which prompt would fit? Rummages through list. Really not thinking breathplay here. Crossdressing? Ha. Hand fetish is not so bad, 'cause there's a lot of stuff about hands there for various reasons. Except, um, for the total lack of sexual contact in an angst-fest about murder and paternalism. And other things. Will move as far as smarm cheerfully, and no further, thus making kink prompts a bit--

Oh snap.

In another sense, the prompt table served its purpose admirably. Because I needed more ideas and more dangling storylines in my head.

So that was a day. Nothing worth noting. Things are a bit slow so I'm off for the rest of the week which works for me because I have some house cleaning to do. We've been having thunder storms which is always fun. Unfortunately I'm bored and unmotivated, two things that do not work well together to keep me entertained. I could continue reading an Ashes to Ashes fic I started but the writer insists on writing Gene's accent which annoys me. The story is good, though so maybe I'll stick through it. TV is rather dull tonight. Ghost Hunters is on but I've seen most of them a few times by now and getting bored by it. I guess I'll browse the net for a while. Where's a juicy Jekyll fic when you need one?

Hey, guys. I know this looks like a tl;dr, but its worth your time and attention. My writing bud Cat Johnson is very active in this organization, and the stories she tells about how grateful these guys are to get ANYTHING to read just reinforces my feeling that this is a worthwhile endeavor that deserves our support.

The week of Tuesday March 4, Books for Soldiers endured a massive computer attack (a Denial of Service Attack--see Wikipedia for explanation). Over 1900 servers from Saudi Arabia were attempting to take down the server that hosts this site. At one point it brought down the whole data center of our host.

Earlier BFS reported on hacker attacks that coincided with their 5th Anniversary. Those DNS attacks didn't help the balance sheet. The final bill from the datacenter for that week alone was just over $11,000. If you recall, the hackers brought down the whole datacenter just to try to kill BFS.

The BFS Board of Directors have discussed this problem for some time and have decided to have another go at fundraising. The Board set a goal of $70,000 to raise by November 1st of this year. If that amount is not raised, the site will close on December 31st, 2008.

However you feel about the war and the politics behind it, we all owe it to these guys who put their lives on the line every single day to help them get whatever small pleasures they can each day. Think about it.

Quite a while ago, someone posted a rec to a House story that was House/Cameron. It was quite long. Cameron, Foreman, and Chase are out at a bar and somehow House shows up and Cameron ends up sleeping with him. Is this ringing a bell with anyone? I don't even know any House archives. I also don't know why this story is stuck in my head, but I want to re-read it. And I seem to think it was a work in progress that I checked back in with a couple of times and want to know how it ends.

I'm terrible at remembering who wrote things and where I read them.
